An evening of aerial life drawing and live music

Join us for an inspiring evening of aerial life drawing paired with live music for a truly immersive experience. The art model, Sarah Bebe Holmes—a physical theater and circus performer—will captivate with her dynamic energy, incorporating aerial apparatus and striking, expressive poses. Accompanying her is Bado Reti, an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and composer, who will guide the evening with his mesmerizing music.

Aerial art modeling utilizes aerial apparatus suspended from the air for the model to find poses which are unique and arresting. Each apparatus offers a different kind of aesthetic. We will be offering a different apparatus for each evening.

Online Workshop on Aerial Silks

Explore the art of weaving your body with the silks through loops, lassos, and tension locks. Loops and lassos create intricate wraps in unexpected ways. Tension locks offer moments of surprising release. Together, these elements unlock endless creative possibilities.

Part 1: In this workshop, you’ll learn an innovative sequence (hot off the press) created by Rain Anya, that highlights these elements while deepening your understanding of their unique applications.

Part 2: Using task-based exploratory exercises, we’ll work together to invent new applications of the concepts. Focused on the creation process itself, this workshop will expand your choreographic toolkit. You’ll leave with a clear framework for discovering your own unique pathways and transitions.

Aerial Level – Designed for intermediate and advanced aerialists. In order to get the most out of this workshop, strong inverts in the air and endurance to complete sequences of 3+ min is highly encouraged.

Height requirements – A minimum of approximately 14 feet / 4 meters

Homeostasis is an installation & performance piece that integrates the evocative visual design of Shibari with a contemporary approach to aerial arts. Lead artist Rain Anya and Collaborating Artist Kemo Burns (Shibari Artist) , have utilized Japanese rope tying techniques to create a large-scale visual interpretation of the human nervous system, constructed entirely with rope. This tree-like nervous system is an elaborate support structure for the aerial performers. In this way, the hybrid piece acts both as a stand-alone sculptural installation, and then becomes alive with movement as it morphs into the performance landscape.
