😅Times have changed.  Students today have the ent 😅Times have changed.

Students today have the entire world of information at their fingertips.

Sometimes it feels like we don’t get to reveal new skills to them anymore— they’ve already seen it all on Instagram and YouTube.

They can show up with a wish list of tricks before they even know how to climb.

As instructors, our job is to walk that line:
nurture their motivation, but make sure they actually have the foundations they will need to (one day) do all those shiny things they already “know.”
 (Or at least, know about.)
That’s where you come in.

Our Teacher Training gives you deep, embodied knowledge—the kind you can’t get from scrolling.
So you can offer what students really crave: personal feedback, smart progressions, and cues that meet them where they are (not where they think they are).

You’ll still challenge and inspire them— and they will walk away better, not beaten.

✨ Registration opens November 10th!
Sign up in the first week and snag a $100 early-bird discount.

Make teaching in 2026 easier. More effective. And way more fun.

I know you’ve been there… You can see the goal, y I know you’ve been there…

You can see the goal, you know exactly what needs to happen, but your body’s like, “Cute idea, but… how!?”

It can be incredibly demotivating. And sometimes this is where people give up.

(you think…maybe I’ll just take up pickleball instead 🤷‍♀️)

Then someone comes along who is able to explain it to you in a way that all the little pieces come together… they just click!

👀Now picture being that person.

The one who makes someone else’s brain light up like, “Ohhh, THAT’S how it works.”

To be so confident in your own depth and understanding of aerial alignment, body mechanics, and theory you KNOW you can walk into any aerial studio and revolutionize their practice.

You don’t need magic powers or decades of experience to be that kind of teacher.

Just solid tools, deep understanding, and a training that actually teaches you how to teach.

 That’s what we do.

What do you want in a creative partner? Working w What do you want in a creative partner?

Working with a circus partner is a WHOLE new level of trust and dependability. Yes, you are quite literally trusting each other with your lives. I know that sounds so dramatic....but it’s true! We all know the inherent risks we take in what we do.

And these types of relationships can be intense, and run the whole spectrum. Whether it’s coming together for one performance, or years of working in collaboration together...circus partnerships can be similar to romantic partnerships; it takes stellar communication, compassion and commitment.

Rain and Sarah, the co-artistic directors of Paper Doll Militia, have been working together as creative partners for 20 years! We’re also friends, business partners and sisters in-law. (Rain married Sarah’s brother 😜)

We’ve been through many phases of our art making, navigating changing goals / visions and big life changes along the way. We’ve had our fair share of ups and downs and found tools to get through the hard times. We’ve worked with many other artists, too and we’re always learning more about the art of collaboration.

So let’s come together! Tag your circus friends, partners, and collaborators (or future collaborators?) and tell them one thing you love about working with them!

You know it’s a good drill when you’re like,
“Duh You know it’s a good drill when you’re like,
“Duh 🤦‍♀️ why didn’t I think of this before?”

This is one of those for me.

I’ve got a whole arsenal of drills for working on hangs from the ground.

But-get this-just doing it from a knot? Whole new world

Here’s why:
When you’re standing in the knot, you can actually set your shoulders perfectly. Then, as you slowly lift one foot off, you can focus on keeping that alignment steady.

Being able to drop your legs down makes ALL the difference.

You’re not forced to fire up your abs and hip flexors just to get into position 💥

That means you can pour all your attention into what really matters: the shoulders.

Setting up proper shoulder alignment isn’t just some “because my coach said so” thing. Having space in your hangs gives you ease in your transitions.

It’s what makes movement look effortless ✨
Save this one for your next studio session
You’ll thank yourself later 💪
In a world that often demands conformity, creating In a world that often demands conformity, creating art is rebellion.

Don’t misunderstand me…I didn’t say ‘art is activism’. Activism belongs in its own category and requires intentional, targeted action.

💥Art, on the other hand, is revolutionary at its very core. The power of societal transformation is already there, inherent in the nature of the thing itself.

🎨 When we consume art, we are engaging in the radical act of seeing the world through someone else’s eyes.

This breeds empathy and disrupts the culture of disconnection while challenging the “us vs. them” narrative used to keep people in line.

🎪Circus, in particular, can be extremely powerful. It reminds us that the impossible is possible. It’s a refuge for the outcasts…those who dare to defy the status quo.

You can tell I’m quite passionate about this subject, and I have more to say than can fit in an IG caption. So I wrote a love letter to the artists (aka a blog post)

When one of our 200-hour teacher training participants asked about research-based safety guidelines for youth in circus arts (because gymnastic and ballet have it!) we went looking… and who better to team up with than @circusdoc? 🧠🎪 to present you with the science.
