❓Why do teachers so often avoid teaching center ❓Why do teachers so often avoid teaching center straddle inverts?

It’s not because there aren’t exciting tricks or transitions that come from them—there absolutely are.

But for beginners, center straddle can be confusing and unstable, especially when compared to the classic straddle invert with fabric to the side.

Let’s break this down:

Side Straddle:
✅ Easier spatial orientation
✅ Fabric supports the knee more securely
✅ Feels more stable and predictable
→ Often preferred for beginner inverts

Center Straddle:
⚠️ Tail tucks behind you; which can make the hand slide harder
⚠️Can cause disorientation when upside down
⚠️Harder to find a solid knee hook, compromising your grip
⚠️Less external support from the fabric
→ Commonly avoided in beginner curriculums

That said, once students are solid in their inverted knee hook, center straddle becomes a rich place to explore wraps and sequences.

Once your students reach the intermediate level, this is the perfect time to introduce transitions and creative exploration from center straddle.

⛑️A quick safety note:
Center straddle requires a few essentials:
✔️ Strong body awareness
✔️A confident knee grip
✔️A secure hand grip

So teach it thoughtfully—but don’t skip it. There’s gold in that pathway.

This figure 8 drop is one of our favorite stacking drops from a center straddle entry point.

“I don’t think we’ll even offer an online te “I don’t think we’ll even offer an online teacher Training”…I remember saying back in 2019. We just didn’t see how it would work, aerial arts is so physical, so tactile.

Fast forward about a year and the whole world shut down, sparking extensive conversations and deep thought about IF or HOW we could take our in-person training and translate it to an online format.

We researched other industries to see how they were doing it. We ran our first Beta Course in summer of 2020. We adjusted, updated and refined.

Holy shit, this actually works!

We saw benefits we hadn’t even imagined:

🌍 More accessibility without travel

⏪ Learn on your time – pause, rewind, revisit anytime

🤝 Global community – train alongside aerialists worldwide

If you’re like we were, you might be a bit skeptical about how it works. That’s why we provided this sneak peak behind the curtain.

One of our favorite things to come out of this format?... The Video Submission Process. Time after time, we hear the participants raving about how much personalized attention they received through this process.

So we’re offering a special limited time only bonus to give you even MORE out of the video submission process.

if you’re one of the next 10 people to sign up for the teacher training, you’ll get a special technique audit on the skill of your choice .

PSA: You are not a trick vending machine. More an PSA: You are not a trick vending machine.

More and more, I’m hearing from instructors who feel like aerial now comes with an unofficial rule:

📣Thou shalt not repeat content or risk disappointing the trick-hungry masses.

This kind of pressure is baked into our hustle culture and reinforced by well-meaning but constant requests from enthusiastic aerial students.

(ooooh new aerial candy!)

But we want to challenge this idea.

Yes, learning new skills is important. A diverse vocabulary gives us options.

But it’s just one small piece to the puzzle.

If you want to feel confident in your movement, add style to your technique, or have flow in your sequences…you gotta take the time to fine tune your foundations and focus on the details.

This means you have to build in a healthy amount of review time into your classes.

Refinement lives in repetition. Nuance doesn’t come from going broader—it comes from digging deeper.

So here’s our challenge to you (and permission to stop the trick parade)

📍 Instructors—bump up your review and refine time by a LOT this week. Then ask them how it went.

Were they bored…? or did they surprise you with how much more they got out of the material?

Notice…how does it feel to go deeper instead of wider?

Because mastery doesn’t come from stuffing your brain with a million things.

Most of us don’t need more material—we need more time with the material we already have.

If you want to carve out time and space for a deep dive into fundamentals and flow…join our next Teacher Training Cohort.

🚫The power of saying no As a creative person, 🚫The power of saying no

As a creative person, someone who is constantly imagining the infinite nature of possibilities, saying no to opportunities has been....well, a challenge.

When a new idea or opportunity comes into my life, my first inclination is to say YES! There was a time in my life when this was what I needed to do. This time was in my 20’s 😉

Now, in my 40’s as I reflect on lessons learned, saying no is an important one.

For me, the easy part has been saying no to things I just don’t want to spend my time doing.

⏩ Sometimes it’s because I’ve moved past that in my life.

🤷🏼‍♀️Sometimes it’s because I simply don’t enjoy it.

As I learn more and more about the things that actually bring me fulfillment and joy, I can more easily recognize when something is no longer serving me.

The hard part, is saying no to things I love, or am passionate about, because I have to prioritize, focus, or protect my time. There are just TOO many awesome things to do on the planet, and it never seems like there’s enough time.

As I get older, I have realized that there are bottom lines. My sleep, my rest time....yes, my self-care. Because I won’t be able to enjoy any of these amazing endeavors or opportunities if I am stressed overworked, and running on empty.

I know, this is WAY easier said than done. I’m the first to admit I am not the best at saying no, or resting, but I’m committed to keeping it as a principle strive to live by.

I try to apply this in ALL aspects of my life. My business, relationships, and creative projects.

And you know what? I have started to notice that when I say no to something, even if it’s something I really wanted to do, I often feel a sense of relief. There’s power in that.

❓What are you saying no to right now in your life? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
