Summer is coming to a close, and we're gearing up for our September Teacher Training starting in only a couple weeks! Thinking of joining us?

Attending a teacher training is a great wait to follow through with a commitment to your personal practice and growth. The Paper Doll Militia Teacher Training Program is designed for both emerging instructors and established professionals.

If you want to take the training but don't have a studio space to attend from, DM us, we can support you in getting connected with a Host Studio. We currently have a Host Studio available for September in the San Francisco Bay Area.

It's been a whirlwind of aerial workshops this sum

It's been a whirlwind of aerial workshops this summer and i’m loving being back in the studios.

Last weekend I was in my old stomping grounds, the Bay Area. I taught at 2 studios, @ascendaerialarts and @aerialdancemarin (unfortunately I didn’t get any video from the Marin workshops)
*

I got the opportunity to work with people I’ve worked with for many years AND to meet totally new faces. I feel so grateful for the opportunity to translate concepts and sequences onto willing aerial bodies. So many ah-ha moments, challenges, puzzles and breakthroughs.
*
*
The learning process is what keeps me coming back to teaching. Watching new connections being made in my students, and everything I continue to learn from teaching.
*
*
This weekend I'm teaching in Charlotte, NC at the Southeast Circus Retreat hosted by @cltcirquedancenter. If you're in Charlotte, say hello!!

2) What is the technique used to put on the first thigh wrap?

1) Thigh Hitch aka Tournequet
2) Slack Drag
3) This is an example of cancellation theory. If you do an OUTSIDE in knee climb over (normal crochet climb over) you will get to thigh hitch with the pole and tail on the OUTSIDE. To get out do an INSIDE knee hook. In this case there is a thigh hitch on both legs so doing an inside knee climb (both legs) gets you out of both thigh hitches.

The Southeast Circus Retreat is a new weekend program that is combining elements from a retreat, an apparatus meeting and workshop weekends. Here's how:

Retreat: This is time for you to work on yourself and be in a non-judgmental environment free of people that you might teach.
*
*
Apparatus Meeting: Like a rope or trapeze meeting, you can meet up with your friends from miles away in person to skill share.
*
*
Workshop Weekend: Tired of noodling around on the silks and need some instruction? That's why Rain is here! To give you some shiny nuggets to jump start your creativity.
*

Fee: $400
Price Increase to $500 after July 25
*
10% off for 3 or more participants from the same studio
*

Fee Includes open practice and all workshops. Must sign-up for workshops in advance.
